Ebay can be such a good thing...until I go and get out of control with it.
I bid on an item this morning and just discovered I'd been outbid on it. So I go to bid history to take a peek at how much it's going for now and who's winning. What do I see? There's just one person bidding along with me but that person has had to put in 7 separate bids in order to outbid me.
Normally I don't mind being outbid. I usually figure I can find the same item again on ebay because that's just how magical ebay is...there's almost always multiples of whatever item you're looking for, no matter how strange. This time, though? I'm somehow offended by this person's silly bidding strategy and the urge to crush the person coursed through me. I bid again, a few bucks more than I had been willing to spend originally.
I was all proud of my outbidding victory until I decided to check out the manufacturer's website to see how much the item costs from them. Now, before you think I'm too silly, please note that I had checked amazon and froogle before I had bid, so was relatively secure in my thinking that I was getting a bargain. But lo! The manufacturer is having a sale, and I can get a set of two items for just a little more than what I'd be paying for the one on ebay. Dammit!
Thankfully, after a few moments of sitting there thinking "Oh crap!" the other person outbid me again. HAH, mystery bidder! You may have won the battle but I am getting an awesome deal from the SOURCE! Plus, I've helped push up the price for the seller. Take that!
