Okay, all you healthy people? The ones without a cold/flu/laryngitis? Listen up, you need to know this:

Those of us with the cold/flu/laryngitis? We're perfectly well aware of how crappy we feel and how crappy we sound. Really.

You DO NOT need to tell us about it because it is not news to us. So if you find yourself about to say something like, "you sound TERRIBLE!", do us a favor and zip it. Shut up. Bite your tongue. Because you're really not helping.

What are you accomplishing with your statement? Simply reminding us of our lack of good health when you should be distracting us from it. Tell a good joke or story, bring over soup and some dvds, make us laugh...all those things will make us feel better. "You sound REALLY awful"? Not. so. helpful.

My cold is making me cranky enough that the next person to tell me that I sound terrible may find a wadded up, totally icky tissue thrown in their face. At the very least.
