Totally Random Crap

Five Random and Useless Things I'm Thinking About:

1. What is it with quizzes? I'm not talking about the fact that they exist at all - they can be entertaining - but rather the fact that they seem to be a bastion of poor spelling. Nothing makes me want to retch more than when I see simple words misspelled. Ugh. Yes, yes, I'm a spelling snob. So damn what?



2. One of the cookie cutters my friend and I used in our Sunday bake-a-thon was this adorable little lamb cutter. Not exactly Christmas, but damn cute, with its imprint of fluffy fleece and big round nose. We made a whole flock of lambs. And as I ate them, I wondered if Clarice could hear them screaming. Mmm, Hannibal's Christmas cookies. What could be more festive?



3. Doesn't it suck when you don't want to buy Christmas presents for some members of your family? But you have to in order to keep the peace because you wouldn't want a giant fight breaking out over figuratively giving your asshole relative a lump of coal? I'm a person who likes giving gifts and I often do so for no reason...but having to buy things for people just because it's expected really rankles me.



4. Far From Heaven was a stunning movie. Just such a visual treat, and I thought Julianne Moore, Dennis Quaid, and Dennis Haysbert were wonderful. Though it did leave me filled with sadness as to what was expected of women back in the 50's, and how Julianne Moore's character ends up with nothing even though she hadn't done anything wrong. On the other hand, The Santa Clause 2 wasn't very good at all. I thought the first movie had its charms, but this second one tried to do too many things and all the plot points were neatly tied up with not nearly enough exploration of each of them.



5. Cold medication can give you the weirdest dreams. Among other things, I dreamt I was living in the ocean. Not under the ocean or near the ocean, but in the ocean. My little shelter was built in the water and I had to swim to it. There were also lots of squid and ugly fish swimming around in the water and they kept brushing against my legs, so I'd swim to the shelter but that didn't do any good since it was in the water.
