Just saw a news report on a massage therapist at a fancy spa here who has been accused of sexually assaulting a client. According to the news, he's in jail now and will be going to court on the 27th.
There's just so much that's bad about this. First and foremost, it's horrible for the person who was assaulted...I can't even imagine how awful that must have been for her.
It's bad for our profession too - ethical massage therapists have been working for years to change public perception so that people think of licensed massage therapists as part of their wellness team as opposed to some seedy "happy ending" cover for prostitution.
I wonder how this will affect bookings at work...will my clients be able to relax and trust my professionalism and ethics during a session? I know I follow all legal and ethical guidelines but will they be on edge because of what happened with this other therapist?
Postive touch, people. Please put the bad touching away!
