I discovered a real problem with the book I just started reading last night. See, I usually read a few pages of whatever book is the choice of the moment before I go to sleep...always have and it feels really strange to go to sleep without reading.

So last night I picked up my new book - it's a book about the wives of Henry VIII. Read the prologue, took a quick peek at the family trees, turned off the light and snuggled in for sweet dreams.

But. That. Didn't. Happen.

Because at that point I discovered that "I'm Henry the Eighth, I am, Henry the Eighth I am I am" song is STUCK in my head, repeating in my brain in the most annoying loop ever created. It just doesn't stop.

So I tried thinking of some other songs. Henry the Eighth scoffs at them.

So I tried some relaxation techniques. HTE simply fits itself into the same pattern as my breathing, which is definitely NOT relaxing.

So I tried counting to one hundred. That was a particularly stupid idea on my part because what do you think happened when I got to eight?

Backward from 100 didn't help either, as the song kept wafting through the increasingly driven-insane hallways of my brain.

Finally? I had to kill some kittens. Yep, I can vouch for the effectiveness of this method for slaying HTE.

Tonight...not reading that book. I'll have to find something else to substitute for it because I so don't want that song stuck in my head again, no matter how lovely the method of extraction.

And, of course, I should have followed the first rule of Annoying Song Club. Rule #1: You don't talk about Annoying Song Club. Dammit! It's stuck again!

Hey, it was practically a life and death situation for me! Poor kitties, it was definitely a death situation for them.

Hee! You poor thing! This makes me think of the movie Ghost; singing "Henry the Eighth" continuously was how Patrick Swayze got Whoopi Goldberg to help him.

Trust me, I was thinking of the same thing. It was awful!

Maybe you should have gone ghost hunting like in Ghost. You know, when Patrick Swayze sings that song to Whoopi Goldberg so she won't sleep and so she'll help him do whatever.

Finally? I had to kill some kittens
I'm glad it worked for you. Personally, it just wakes me up more.
