All football fans will have to excuse me. I don't care for the game, nor do I care for the behavior some of the fans exhibit as they preach the superiority of their team, trying to convert me to their cult. It's especially bad when they do this on SuperBowl Sunday, because they're usually drunk off their asses and the game takes freakin' forever. Seriously, to me it's like the death scene Paul Rubens had in the Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie, where he takes an incredibly long amount of time to die. Only I found him more amusing than the football game usually is. (Geez, can you tell who's bitter about some of the Superbowl parties she's been dragged to in the past? Yep, some of them have been truly awful.)
But hey, c'est la vie, right? You enjoy the game, I'll just be over here doing something else.
This year's something else was the movie Chicago.
Overall I enjoyed the movie, but it was a close call. For one thing, I couldn't stand Renee Zellweger in this role. I've liked her in other things but she really annoyed me today. And for goodness sake, someone feed her a piece of cheesecake. Compared to the curvaceously lovely Catherine Zeta-Jones, RZ looked like she weighed about 80 pounds and hadn't hit puberty yet.
Some of the other women in the dance numbers could share the rest of the cheesecake too; every time I saw a rib cage poking out - wait, make that jutting out - I got grossed out. It just makes me think that someone's going to snap them in half or something. I could never take one of them to bed, for fear of poking my eye out on their jutting rib cages.
Richard Gere - Ever since that stinker Autumn In New York, I can't stand Richard Gere. I liked him in his speaking scenes here but couldn't stand him in his musical numbers. And let's not even talk about the breakaway pants in his first song. *shudder*
Queen Latifah and John C. Reilly were great. I really liked Reilly's "Mister Cellophane" number. My favorite by far though, was Catherine Zeta-Jones. She was simply superb and really seemed to light up the screen. She stole every scene she was in, which only made her scenes with RZ that much harder for me to watch.
Of course, all of this is just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.
