What's that you say? This is format traditionally only includes ten items? Ten, shmen. My favorite number is eleven. So there.

Top Eleven Things I'm Grateful For Today
11: The sun! The sky is blue; it's sunny and beautiful here today. Coincidentally (that's sarcasm there, folks), I'm in an amazingly good mood today. All this winter has been getting me down. My normal mood swings are enough to deal with without the extra grumpiness that months of cold and grey add to them.

10: It's warm, too! It's about 37°F/3°C. I'm wandering around the house in just a tee-shirt. Heh, that sounds racier than it is. A tee-shirt and pants and socks. But no thick sweatshirt! And no cranking up the heat!

9: The way my newly cleaned desk drawer looks, as well as how accomplished that makes me feel. You know those deep desk drawers that are designed to hold files? Did mine actually hold files previously? Nope. Just a big pile of stuff dumped in there...and now it's an organized drawer, complete with beautifully Lexy purple file folder hangers.

8: Those soft, frosted sugar cookies ([livejournal.com profile] xica_s knows what I'm talking about). They're damn addictive and more than one can lead to a near deadly sugar-high. Nevertheless, the melty, sweet goodness of the first bite nearly is enough to make me swoon.

7: Remembering where I put my Barnes & Noble gift card! I hadn't seen it since Christmas, so I was happy that my brain finally finished searching its data banks and coughed up the location of the card. Gotta love free shopping!

6: Book stores! I spent an hour today happily wandering the aisles of the Barnes & Noble near my house. Goodies I found to take home with me: the new William Gibson book (Pattern Recognition), a totally-on-sale cookbook on cakes with really yummy looking pictures (pictures can really make or break a cookbook - done right, the pics are inspiration to attempt making the food), Edward Gorey's Amphigorey Also (in the bargain section!), a travel magazine (doing research for a trip to Paris), and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer soundtrack (recommended by the devilishly dangerous [livejournal.com profile] anathema666). All these goodies and I still have some credit left on the gift card!
5: Tomorrow is William Gibson's reading and signing for Pattern Recognition at my local Borders. Really looking forward to that.

4: Indie radio. WLUW rocks! How lovely it is to be able to hear more than the same 15 or so songs that are in rotation at the popular stations.

3: The eroscillator. Finally got to try mine out for the first time last night, and I really think I need to give the company more money for it. Whew! Quite delicious. Heck, any product that uses the word "flabbergasmic™" in the description must be good, right? Right!

2: My pets. It's so soothing when my dog or my cats are curled up next to me. (Although the cats are much more soothing; Fred tends to snore too loudly to be really relaxing.) Their warm & snuggly little furry bodies, their look of utter contentment, the cute way they stretch when they finally move...makes me understand why pet therapy works.

And finally, the #1 thing I am grateful for today:

1: My friends. Y'all are so smart, funny, giving, gracious, silly, snarky, sexy and wonderful - you're the bestest! I'm really, really excited about going to see my buddies in Toronto and Florida next month. Yay! And thank you for everything.

You are so lovely, Anathema. I know, I've been somewhat of a lunatic lately, haven't I? Thank you; your friendship helped me immensely.

Smooch!

I am so so so so so excited to see you again, and take you to some of my fave places in Toronto. Why yes, it is all about me. *grins*

Glad you had a good day yesterday.

Many many hugs, and smooches. Have fun meeting William Gibson!

Yay for happiness. And boo for how jealous I am that you have organized files. If I could get one thing filed, indexed, and stamped I'd be a much happier gal.

That Eroscillator intrigues more each passing day.

Would it make you feel any better if I told you that it's taken me years and years of adulthood to get to a place where the balance of clean is finally overtaking the amount of mess/unorganized stuff? (Not to mention years of working at places where I gave the outward impression of being highly organized yet my files were in shambles. Yep, the last job I left saw me working lots of overtime to put away the stacks and stacks of stuff I had piled up for filing, before the next poor soul started my job.)

As for the eroscillator, I know what you mean. My intent, after seeing it, was to wait to purchase it at some point in the future...as a kind of present to myself, maybe around my birthday in October. And then a week after I saw it, I was ordering it online. It's the most seductive gadget!
