The power went out Saturday night, round about 2:40am. Wouldn't you know it, it happened just as I was finishing up the last few pages of a book too. Luckily, I knew right where a candle and a lighter were, so I was able to "get my light on."
My next door neighbors were having a party, so I could hear their drunken voices as they walked around, their flashlights bobbing in the darkness. I don't know if it was because of them, but all of a sudden I was struck with a bit of fear. Without the electricity to carve out the boundaries of my territory, I felt vulnerable. It was as though the wolves were closing in on me now that I was defenseless.
But I shook that off the best I could, gathered more candles, and finished my book.
Speaking of candles, why wasn't I using a flashlight like all my inebriated neighbors? Well, in my house we have lots of flashlights and lots of batteries, but they're never in the same place. Come to think of it, I can't tell you for certain where the flashlights are right now. I do know exactly where the batteries are, though.
Which brings me to my next thought: someone really ought to make a vibrator/flashlight combo. Because I have a stockpile of AA batteries for my mechanical friends and I sure in the hell know where *they* are all the time. Plus, there have been times when I have wanted a little bit of light so I could properly appreciate and worship those areas of my partner.
But that could just be me.
Moving right along...saw X2. Enjoyed it, but can't get over the haircut to join in on the Wolverine love. It's so nearly a mullet. *shudder*
Saw The Matrix Reloaded (with the gorgeous, sassy, and funny women known as
mei_x and
xica_s). The hair was much better in this one, so I gleefully lusted after several people. I can only imagine how scrumptious they'll all look in IMAX in a few weeks.
Saw Bend It Like Beckham. I thought it was really cute and funny, and DAMN did Jonathan Rhys-Meyers look hot too.
Yes, folks, how hot the actors are seems to have become my default criterion lately - for which I place the entire blame on Smallville. SV has trained me to ignore plot and focus on the pretty. I think I can still talk about deeper themes in the movies, but I'm not positive about that...just email me if you want to try to have a plot enriched conversation about any of these.
