Interplanet Janet, She's A Galaxy Girl
Aug. 30th, 2002 12:22 pmLast week I bought myself a little present, and I must say, I'm very pleased with it. What is it that has brought me such pleasure?
Disney has released Schoolhouse Rock in honor of its 30th anniversary. I bought myself the 2-disc DVD set and it....well, it really rocks. There's all 46 original Schoolhouse Rock songs, plus some new songs, and a bunch of extra stuff. A friend and I watched most of them the other night, and now I've found myself humming the songs as I go along through my day.
There are so many great ones: Unpack Your Adjectives, Conjunction Junction, The Figure 8, Interplanet Janet, Suffering 'Til Sufferage, Lolly Lolly Lolly, Elbow Room, etc. The Rufus Xavier Sarsparilla song (about pronouns) even has a character with the last name of Armadillo! Which, of course, caused me to squeal to myself.
The music is fabulous. And it's good to feel like something I'm watching is making me smarter. Because let's face it, I sometimes feel like my intelligence quota is declining...and I miss the sheer joy I feel when learning new things and discussing it with others. Admittedly, the subjects of the SR songs aren't new to me, but the songs have been a great reminder of the little tidbits of information that have gotten buried too deeply in my brain for easy recall.
And now I'm headed off to the lake country for the holiday weekend and to celebrate a friend's wedding. Deep Sigh. Three days without access to a computer. Cold-turkey; there's no methadone for Internet junkies like myself. See you all soon!
