That's a quote from one of the pieces of art my Mom gave me years ago. There's a young girl leaning against the back of a piano, a man in a bowler-type hat playing for her while she sings. The whole thing looks vaguely like she's singing in a saloon, and there's a small note tacked up by the piano with the aforementioned quote. Mom said it reminded her of me - as a kid (and still now, for the most part), I'd be singing just as much as speaking.

Mom gave me that piece when I was about 12 - before I'd hit my nasty stride - so hopefully it wasn't that I was singing nasty songs inadvertently that caused her to think of me when she saw it.

I'm thinking about artwork because we're painting the inside of our house this week. Yesterday we prepped for the invasion of our home (7 painters are working on the job, busy bees that they are) by taking down all of our art. The walls look so bare and sad without anything on them. I usually associate that look and feeling with our moves - that bittersweet moment of sadness at leaving one place and hope and excitement about the new place. It's very odd for me to have those feelings without the actual move.

Art. It's what makes your house a home.

Since I won't have access to my computer later this week, I want to pass along my adoration to all my friends. I love all of you! Special bionic smooches to [livejournal.com profile] wubba and massages and cheers to [livejournal.com profile] anathema6669. While I'm at it, hugs and pettings go out to [livejournal.com profile] thamiris, [livejournal.com profile] rivier, and all of the SoFla crew. Mwah!

Hugs and pets back at ya, Dis. And artless walls are a crime against culture--you have my sympathy, sweets.

I keep telling myself that at least the walls will be pretty when it's time for the art to go back up. We chose 13 colors of paint, so the house will be very vibrant.

I'm feeling ya about the art. I've always wanted to paint murals on my walls but I thought that might scare the guests.

Scared? What kind of murals are you planning, Lexual? *g*

A tmy house, were more into function than form so we don't have anything on our walls. We used to have three reproductions of some fairly famous paitings in the living room Noone actually liked them, my mother kept them up because her mother had given them to her and dad. When we painted, they came down and they never went up again. I have two prints from Hawaii in my room and I have a few posters I always mean to put tp but never do.

If left on my own, my apartment woudl be a bed, a chair, tv, stereo and computer. Perhaps a tv in the bathroom. I don't care all that much for aesthtics as long as I'm comfortable. I mean, it would be one hell of a bed. And the tv - would be a gorgeous plasma screen. The chair would be the kind that not only massages the back, but has the extensions for a calf and foot massage as well. I suppose being comfortable is my art.

Your room sounds great, Fleeg. Being comfortable is quite an art.

I'm hoping mid-to-late September.

Add my crossed fingers to the pile, and bugger what Ana's purporting - I *still* think we need to find a nice new-age spa where we can relax and recline in states of casual disarray all day long. We can always look at a few postcards of Canada, or something...

I seem to remember Ana saying that she wanted to see you all decked out in a leather catsuit and whip...so just do that and I'm thinking she'll go along with whatever you say.

I, being a leather fetishist, will be fondling as much of your leather-clad body as possible.

Hee.

I'll be happy with doing anything. Will it involve lots of alcohol?

I don't think I have anything planned for that time yet, so YAY! Of course, let me know if things change.

::gropes you back, rustily::

Hurry up back, sweetie... so that you can taunt me over my increasingly bizarro tastes.

What are you going AWOL for anyway, hmm? All pleasure, I hope.

Alas, it's just because the painters will have taken over the computer area. If I'm not too lazy, I'll go to the library and get online there.

We're already television free for 2 nights. Thank goodness it's rerun season! Though I am slightly - what is it you say? - chuffed (?) about missing the 4 eps of Stargate (from the older seasons)I was going to record off the SciFi channel tonight.
