This may seem really silly, but I find myself in the position of needing some advice on tweezers. What better thing to do than to turn to the accumulated knowledge and experience of my friends?

Here's the deal: after loosing yet another pair of tweezers, I have another opportunity to find the perfect weapon in my war with the hairs on my chinny-chin-chin (much as I hate to admit it, there's no denying the hair there; those of you with light skin and dark hair no doubt feel my pain). I've heard wonderful things about the Tweezerman products. Then the question becomes slant tip, square, or point?

Any helpful hints out there? Any horror stories or words of praise for a particular type?

I find slant tip the most useful. I have a pair of Tweezerman slant tips and they're marvy at getting out the stray hairs.

Square - but not too big at the ends - narrow square not wide. You get a better grip with the smaller ends.

I seem to lose a pair of tweezers a week these days. I sometimes lose them as soon as they are out of the shop. Then I usually find a lost pair.

I have no idea where they go. It's crazy! My husband has this theory that when you die, you get taken to a room where all the ballpoint pens, lighters, and socks you lost througout your lifetime are returned to you. Apparently my tweezers will be there as well.

I love my tweezers, generic store brand as they are. They're slanted ones, though, and I find that makes them easier to use, especially in the chin region.

And hey. There's my eyebrow. ^^^

Thank you, Scrunchy. And hey, you make unibrow sexxay! (I'm just kidding. I don't remember thinking that you had a unibrow at all.)

Heh.

I just bought myself a pair of Tweezerman slant tips. They are very good a ridding me of the pesky chin hairs - and! They now come in fun colours!

Good luck!!

Thank you, Wubba!

You know, I've been thinking about calling you for the last week or so, but keep messing up the timing. I inevitably look at the clock when it's about 5pm here and think, "well, she's probably not home yet" and then wander off to do something else. The next thing I know, it's 9pm here and it's too late to call you. Oh well, one night I'll manage to be by the phone at a good time.

Mwah!

I would love to talk to you - Maybe Sunday evening? I am off to our Nation's capital with my Dad for the weekend and am out tomorrow night.

I miss you lots.

I think Sunday night will be good, unless we get back from the wedding we're going to really late.

Hope you have fun in your travels!

Tweezerman slant tip, no question. I tried the pointy tipped ones first and Oy, but they're *sharp*! They damn near impaled me each time!

The slanties arok a treat and will grip the teeniest hairs like a vice. And they never do that annoying thing of cutting the hair off like a pair of wire pliers when you're trying to pull it.

Perfect for all us old witchy women with pesky chin hairs, even when the chinhair in question is bloody transparent.

Don't they feel like that thick fishing line sometimes? Jeez, I'm scared of poking people in the tender thigh area when I'm nuzzling their gussets.

Thank you for the rec! The pointy ones made me pause and think to ask everyone.

Tweezerman!! And when they get dull, you can send them to be resharpened!

Tweezerman and slant tip. Seriously it's one of the few beauty products that totally lives up to the hype.

I own the pointed tip ones. I was determined to buy them at that exact moment and they were out of the other kinds. Yes, I have slightly injured myself the odd time, but I really like them, because you can be really precise about which hair(s) to yank out.

Happy one day 'til your birthday!

Thank you for the input. I'm kind of a klutz sometimes, so I'm a bit nervous about the pointy ones. Though I do understand the desire to pluck the precise hair - it's why I invested in a 10x magnifying mirror. Those 3x, 5x, and 7x ones just weren't enough.

The slant is the most useful. But sometimes its angle works against it--you can't seem to grip the hair tightly enough. In that case the straight version works best. Ideally you would have both slant and straight--but if you have to pick one, I'd say slant.

Wow, there's people for everything! I mean, scissor-tweezers? I had no idea such thing existed.

I like this one (http://www.tweezerman.com/product/productDetails.cfm?prodno=30). It's similar to what I use. Of course, the one I have, I paid $3,50. And mine's purple.

On the vanity note, my perfect eyebrows can be found here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/alejandradd/317865.html)

Tweezerman Point Tweezer. I swear by it. I've had mine for a couple of years. They always get the job done. And even works on those pesky ingrown hairs. You just have to be careful not to hurt yourself. ;)

*sigh* That's one of the reasons I posted this entry. The pointy ones look like they may be dangerous for my spazzy self to use - I wanted to hear what others have to say about them.

I use slanted, cheap tweezers but I don't tweeze much. They seem to get the job done. The wide ones look pretty cool tweeze I honestly don't know how you would use those pointy ones.

tweezerman slant tip. And believe me, I am obsessed.

You think I'm obsessed with Smallville? Pshaw! That's nothing compared to my obsession with hair removal.

I am totally obsessed with it as well, dear Nerodi. In fact, the tweezers are only one aspect of my hair removal war - I just bought myself a new magnifying mirror. After much research and about 15 trips to various stores, I finally decided that only the 10x magnification was powerful enough. And there must be a light on the mirror. I shudder to think what will happen as I get older and my eyesight gets worse. I'll need a 25x mirror!

I've even researched laser hair removal, which claims to be permanent, but have had trepidation about going that route.

Here's a funny - one of my friends made me promise that when we're both old ladies, I'll help her pluck the chin hairs that she won't be able to see anymore. She seriously made me promise to help her with that.
