Today is absolutely gorgeous. Clear blue skies, warm but not too warm temperatures and an occasional cool breeze. I adore Fall, I really do. Apples and pumpkins and Halloween...it's my favorite season.

When I have a house with a yard, I'm definitely installing a swing. In fact, two swings. One regular one and a tire swing, one of the ones where the tire is connected to the swingset horizontally instead of vertically.

After weeks of walking past the parks in my neighborhood at different times of day, I finally found a park where the swings weren't all in use by kids! (Muscling a kid out of the way so I can swing isn't my style.) I played on the swing for a few minutes and now am just so happy. The irresistible combination of the rocking motion of the swing, the thrill of pumping my legs and getting the swing to go higher and higher until I feel like I'm about to fly off it altogether, and the movement of the air around me makes me feel at once peaceful and excited, safe and mischievous. And giggly. It's zen meditation for the kid within me.

Besides the swings, there may also have to be some of that squishy, cushy recycled rubber stuff that feels so fun when you walk on it. Possibly a giant sprinkler to run through in the hot weather too.

Oooo! You aren't talking a Slip n' Slide here are you? Those things screamed "danger!" to me when I was six. I guess that must mean that they are a hella good time.

As a kid I never enjoyed Slip n' Slides. It seemed like there was always at least one spot on the plastic (or whatever it is) that wasn't wet enough and I'd stick to it.

I was thinking more of one of those sprinklers that just go slowly back and forth. Or the park closest to my house has this metal pipe contraption that looks kind of like a tree - water comes out of the top of the three "branches" like a fountain. The kids seem to love it.

We used to have 2 playgrounds right by the house i lived in in Cambridge. A bunch of us would always go swing on the swings when we were really stressed out and needed a break. Especially during finals. It was an enjoyable way to relieve some stress.

Isn't it a great thing? I was just glad I didn't have to wait until it started snowing to be able to get on one of the swings around here.

Mwah!

I love swings. I was swing champion when I was little. I'd pump my legs so hard and get so high up I was above the support bar. It's just a beautiful motion, isn't it?

I like the slide, too.

POUNCE!!!

Hahaha! Never underestimate the Tigger when around swings!

*snuggles the Tigger*

Consider yourself to have an open invitation to come play on the swings when I finally get them. Just as long as you promise not to hurt yourself, Champion Swinger!
