Swordplay
Perhaps it's good that I waited until after last night's Smallville to make my sword for my Halloween costume. Now I'll have visions of Lex caressing his Kurosawa prop sword and cricking his neck to inspire me.
Which reminds me, if anyone has any tips about making a cardboard sword, feel free to leave me a comment about it. This is the first time I'll be attempting it and I have a few (hopefully) kick-ass design ideas - I'm just hoping they translate well on cardboard.
ETA - after weighing myself this morning, I've lost nearly eighteen (18!!!) pounds. Woo! That's pretty exciting, considering all the birthday cake I've eaten recently.

For the sword...do ye olde kid's method and wrap that puppy in tin foil!

You have inspired me to get back on the WW track. Way to go Sweetness! Although I love you anyway you are - and I mean it.

I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to wear for Halloween. *whimper* I'd better make up my mind soon or it's seriously going to be a shitty costume. Heh.
My only suggestion regarding the sword. We use to make quite a few for props back when I was in school (my principal was obsessed with productions) and we always found that they always end up bent (it could be that the boys couldn't resist having mock fights). If you can, it's better to make it from wood. You can actually find pretty light wood just by looking around the home improvement stores. And if you flirt with the staff, they might even just give you some spare bits that they have for free. ;)

Also, cardboard swordness. Make sure your cardboard is fairly rigid (heh). If it's kind of floppy, glue 2 pieces of cardboard together. Spasticat's comment about tinfoil is very wise. It makes is verrah shiny.
