Because we never really know each other as well as we think, in response to this post I'd like you to ask a question. Anything about which you are curious, anything you feel you ought to know about me. Silly, serious, personal, fannish. Ask away. Then, if you want, copy this to your own journal, and see what people don't know about you.

Buh?

Dear body o'mine,

We had enough time for 6 hours of sleep...so why did you decide 4 was more like it? You know we're going to suffer for this later.

I'm waiting for you under the mistletoe!

I feel it's my civic duty to point out (snagged from Joe. My. God.) that tomorrow is the Global Orgasm For Peace Day! Check out the information here: http://www.globalorgasm.org/

As the site says, "WHY? To effect positive change in the energy field of the Earth through input of the largest possible instantaneous surge of human biological, mental and spiritual energy."

There's a place you can click on to figure out the timing for your own time zone. Imagine, all around the world, a few moments of peace and happiness.

I'd better make sure my favorite toy is charged up and ready to go. Spread the word!

Heh.

I just received an elf message from http://www.elfyourself.com/ ...have you guys seen this?

Such silly things on this series of tubes.

I almost never post about music. Huh.

So, my formative music years were the 80's. I Love the 80's! But I don't want to be stuck in the 80's either. But apart from y'all, how do I find new, cool bands when I hate the radio?

My answer for the past year or so has been watching the videos on NewNowNext on the Logo channel. It's pretty cool and there have been multiple times where someone's been talking about their new musical find and I've already seen them on NNN. I feel so in the know!

Tonight I saw a video from The Cliks (www.thecliks.com), a group from Toronto with a transman singer. I've been listening to the songs they have on MySpace and am enthralled by Lucas' vocals.

...and I just realized how much this post sounds like a commercial. Oh well. As Kathy Griffin would say, "Suck it, Jesus!"

Sick Again

Dearest body o'mine, please not to be sick again. I had to call off from work again today and the lack of funds is definitely not what I need right now.

People in Portland, OR: have you been to Voodoo Doughnut? I just saw a blurb about them that makes me want to visit there.

Here's the bit about Voodoo Doughnut:

Voodoo Doughnut operates in its own twisted world fueled by animosity toward convention: Here, doughnuts are decorated with toppings like Fruit Loops, Tang and—yes! —bacon. This hipster-friendly hole-in-the-wall in downtown Portland tests sensory limits with super-sweet (and often adult-themed) creations, bright colors and guilty childhood pleasures—just try getting through the Captain Crunch doughnut without succumbing to sugar shock. The shop also serves as a concert venue and wedding chapel—on our first anniversary, my wife surprised me with a vow-renewal ceremony performed by co-founder Tres Shannon. (Both Tres and his partner, Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson, were legally ordained online.) We were rewed beneath a velvet portrait of Isaac Hayes and presented with a custom-made doughnut resembling our rotund cat. But all eccentricity, perversion and cereal aside, the bottom line is that Voodoo’s doughnuts are undeniably addictive. And did I mention they offer Swahili lessons every Monday night?

Just couldn't come up with a clever title. Oh well.

Y'all, [livejournal.com profile] deeablo is awesome, evil hand notwithstanding. Evil one, thanks for spending some time with me last night. Your company was even better than the dinner of champions* I had last night.

*dinner of champions, a.k.a. high cholesterol on a plate: bacon and fries. What? Those were the only menu items that tantalized my taste buds. Too bad Deeablo wasn't on the menu...

Urgh.

Ugh, I'm sick. For the past few weeks I've managed to avoid getting sick but it hit me today. What sucks is that I had to call off for work tomorrow, and Sunday is normally big money-making day for me. Oh well. Money isn't everything, right?

[livejournal.com profile] bunglegirl, it's a good thing I opted out of seeing you today. I wouldn't have wanted to make you sick too.

For your holiday enjoyment (you'll have to sneak away from all the family togetherness at some point, right?), check out this parody of the Bionic Woman:

I am so thankful for all of you. Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who are celebrating it today and Happy Thursday to the rest!

Thank You

Thank you to everyone who responded to my last post about setting up a relationship filter - I love you all very much.

I'm not sure how much I'll be posting about it but those of you who wanted in will see something eventually.

Love to you all!

I love Kelly. You know, Kelly from YouTube: "Shoes" and "Let Me Borrow That Top" and "Text Message Breakup".

The videos inspired my Halloween costume and C. sent the pics into Kelly's MySpace page. And now, there's a video. I'm in it! Twice! I'm at 1:47 and 2:12. (Alternatively, at -2:06 and -1:42.)

Heh. I think this is excellent!

Just came from a Halloween party. The party was great...all except for this one young lady (who, it was later confirmed, was still in her twenties) who was complaining about being old. She said it with a capital O: O-L-D. Like she was so old she may as well die now, that was how she said it.

As she was surrounded by more than a few people who were already past her age, she got some negative feedback to that statement.

Yes, young miss, you ARE old. So, so, so, so old. Here, let me escort you back to your room at the rest home and please don't mind my foot as I give you a kick in the ass on the way there.

Aw, Crap!

Guess who just remembered that she was supposed to renew her driver's license (in person, thanks to the stupid required vision screening) by yesterday?

Yep, it's me. Good thing I take the CTA most of the time.

Also, after more than nine years of living here, I am still not used to saying "I have to go to the Office of the Secretary of State to renew my license." It will forever be the DMV to me no matter what you try to call it, Illinois.

Last night, completely on the spur of the moment, C. and I went to see the final Chicago showing of Margaret Cho's Sensous Woman: a Sinsational New Variety Show.

It was awesome!

Small venue, so while there were no bad seats in the house, we ended up in the second row, center seats.

The show was a mix of comedy and burlesque. Ms. Cho said she came up with it to show that every woman is beautiful, no matter how much they differ from the ridiculous definition of beauty that we get from tv, movies, and magazines. So, there was a little person burlesque dancer, a plus-size burlesque dancer (who was incredibly hot), a transgender comic, and other queer performers. Oh, and Kelly was there! (I love Let Me Borrow That Top.)

The show is going to be off-Broadway as of the 26th (along with, randomly, a show in Flint, MI on my birthday). Go see it if you can!

[livejournal.com profile] xica_s and [livejournal.com profile] favabean, I have tried the new Vosges bar! Thank you for telling me about it! Mmm, 41% cacao chocolate, smoked salt, and bacon is a DELICIOUS combination. BACON! Bacon in a chocolate bar and damn! it tastes good.

I was looking around the Vosges site (www.vosgeschocolate.com) and found some other new flavors that sound good. Like these:

Wattleseed - a nuance of hazelnut, coffee, and vanilla

Quandong - a wild Australian fruit with a tart apricot flavor

Tlan Nacu - dark chocolate + Mexican vanilla bean

Buddha's Leaf - Malaysian pandan leaves impart a hint of vanilla wafer and pine nut

Don't those sound good? Unfortunately, they are only available in a silly "yoga and chocolate" gift box and I don't want to spend $44 on trying the new flavors.

Another food place that was discussed at [livejournal.com profile] xica_s's birthday shindig was Hot Doug's. Gals, I was there last Monday, so they're definitely open once more. Go forth and enjoy your encased meats!

I'm sure I have more food-related items to post but can't think of any right now. Tell me all about your food-related stuff!
